A Short History

HousePaladin is an old guild that started about 6 yrs ago. If you care for the history and evolution of HousePaladin, you can click here.

HousePaladin had gone through several few phrases. First it was LifeTank, and then it became HomePoint after a good amount of the members left for Asura server. HousePaladin is a remake of HomePoint, therefore, most HousePaladin members were former HomePointers.

HP Deskjet was created by HousePaladin Leaders for End-Game activity. After a while, the old HousePaladin social shell died as more members moved to Deskjet full time. Deskjet is now a full-time endgame-oriented linkshell and currently the only incarnation of the HousePaladin guild in FFXI.

About Us

Deskjet is a family-style community which provides a stable environment for its members so they will be able to enjoy each others company and make the game more fun. The more fun you make it for others the more fun it is for all members. Our goal is to help each other out, this is not simply a place where you come to make big in-game gains, we are absolutely not greed or individual based.

Deskjet is an event based group where we try to focus on creating events for our members that allow our members to experience FFXI's bigger moments together whenever possible. As a result our calendar is very important to us! (Yes, the day is always off on the calendar and no, we haven't been able to fix it.) The nature of the events varies wildly be they quests, missions, or HNM camps. We expect our members attend events as much as possible. Leveling or meriting during eventsis considered to be in bad taste and contrary to the spirit of our community.

Conduct

1. Always regard the HousePaladin motto, Honor, Valor, Philanthropy. Philanthropy is especially important here; treat all players in and outside the LS fairly and with respect.

2. At all times on the Linkshell, in the game or our the forums there is to be no use of derrogatory terms regarding race, gender, ethnicity, age, physical handicaps or sexual orientation, etc.

3. We absolutely do not tolerate any verbal assaults, attacks on other players, flaming or disrespecting the opinions of others or excessive swearing/immature speech.

4. Your behavior outside of our Linkshells and the boards affects HousePaladin and Deskjet as a whole. The officers will investigate to the best of their abilities in response to misconduct by our members. Do not be surprised if you are expelled because of actions you perform outside the Linkshell. Anyone can have a bad day, and its ok. But if its everyday, expect to be expelled.

5. Keep any personal drama outside of the shell, if something comes up between members of the shell deal with it off the shell, we do not have time for that drama. If a personal issue with another member is having a negative effect on your time in Deskjet contact an Officer immediately.

6. At all times there is to be no negative comments about other Linkshells in Linkshell or party chat. Certainly not in say, shout, or in tells to members of other Linkshells.

7. If there is a problem with another LS, /tell an Officer immediately. Never under any circumstance will a member take matters into their own hands while dealing with other Linkshells. Ignore them and continue playing, be the bigger person. Remember that any action you make while or while not wearing our shell reflects the shell and we will deal with any problems in this area very seriously.

8. No MPK period. This is not only a Deskjet rule, but a SE rule.

9. Never claim steal. There is to be no claiming mobs that go unclaimed until; everyone from the group fighting it is dead or has zoned AND you have been given authorization to do so from the presiding member. No curing members in other Linkshells with active hate from NM, or otherwise interfering positively or negatively with their attempts to kill NM. NMs on our kill list are especially to be noted considering the competitive nature of the HNM scene.

Enforcement

Violations of HousePaladin/Deskjet Community policies will be determined on a case-by-case basis by a discussion and subsequent vote of the LS council. Additionally, the presiding member has the authority to have removed from party/alliance/area if necessary as a temporary solution.

Any violations of the conduct policy will be dealt with in the following manner:

1. When a member breaks one of our conduct/policy rules the Officers will talk to that member and give them a Warning notice.

2. Members who have received a Warning notice will be placed on a probation list.

3. Any member who is on the probation list who breaks a conduct/policy rule will be expelled from the Linkshell.

Leadership

Deskjet uses a Council/Officer based leadership. A group of players who help govern and shape our policies. The Council is responsible for shaping and running our linkshell including the administrative tasks and policymaking. The Officers (and the council as well) are the ones that take charge at events so that they run smoothly as well as handle disputes as they arise.

Follow orders as they are given. It is much easier for the presiding leader at the time of the event to give orders and control the situation than to have everyone doing their own thing.

We are also very big on using voice of members in the LS. We encourage input from our members so we can make this the best place for everyone with a pearl. This goes for in-game or on the forums, use your voice!

Deskjet Recruitment

1. Any new applicant must register and post a hello post about their self on the website. You must be level 75, have SKY (Zilart Mission 14) and must be on CoP Chapter 5 or higher. The CoP chapter 5 requirement is currently suspended, so feel free to apply even if you don't meet that requirement. Please take the time to make this post, it is the first impression that we have of you and if youre looking to join, it should be a good one.

Application Post should include:
1) In-game name
2) Your LV 70+ Jobs
3) Works in progress (jobs you plan on leveling)
4) Past HNM or sky experience (if any)
5) Where you heard about Deskjet
6) Goals while in Deskjet
7) Chains of Promathia information
8) Your Wishlist, ranked 1-5 (1 being the highest) of items dropped by Sea NM or Sky gods.
- If you do not complete your Wishlist (all 5 items) you CANNOT add anything to it until the next reset

2. During a period of one week the application will stay on our Recruitment forum. This period give enough time to the applicant to find 4 vouches + and official Sponsor (it gives the time to members who already know him/her to vouches and to volunteer to sponsor him/her) and by our members who already know him to tell our officers to give them the bad/good experiences they got with the applicant.

3. After one or two week(s), if the applicant has his vouches and sponsor and if there aren't too many bad experiences related by our members, he become a trial member, get a pearl and is allowed to join our activities.

4. Once the trial member reach the total of 75 points (not counting points spent) from Linkshell activities there will be a vote for Full Membership.

5. The vote will be up for 2 weeks If a member gets 3 or more 'NO' votes the applicant will be disregarded. The "NO" votes must be argued in Private to an Officer or publicly.

6. Once the Trial member is voted in he become a full member and is allowed to make a wishlist.

7. If you have the opportunity to join us in an event (check the LS Calender) please do. If you come out and show us your stuff the chance you'll be admitted goes up dramatically. (If we like you /grin)

P.S. Deskjet is an exclusive Linkshell, if you are part of Deskjet you are not able to be part of any other LS (Social/HNM), event linkshells such as Dynamis are excluded.

Events

Please make a post in the Event Forum on the Boards. Officers will take the responsibility to work with members and help lead these events for its members. Do no expect Officers to walk you through an event though, preparation by members is required.

Members are encouraged to utilize the Event Calendar to plan Events and remember to give time when setting up events and to give specific time/place/date so people will be able to attend.

All events/quest that can be scheduled must go thru the calendar with a few days of advance notice.

Please do not spam the LS chat asking for help. Impromptu events can often be organized on the spot but you cant always expect people to drop what they are doing to help you with something. We are not trying to stop people asking for help, just want to make things more organized.

Make sure to send a /tell to an officer to update the /lsmes with Current Events so everyone stays up to date.
